Border Sessionsは、2011年よりオランダの第三都市であるハーグ（Haag）で開催されている欧州最大規模（最先端）の“社会実験場”として認知されている国際的なイベントです。世界の前提を挑発しながら“革新”や“解決策”を生みだしつづける活動家たちが集結し、主にFuture Pitch、Summit、Lab、展示会を通してアイディアのみではとどまらない社会実装を前提としたアウトプットを続けています。
この秋、東京で開催される当イベントは、オランダのBorder Sessionsと同様、Summit&Future Pitchを中心に構成された2日間に及ぶイベントです。また、イベント終了後には様々なLab（ラボ）が立ち上がります。参加者の興味・関心の幅を広げる各種プログラムに参加しながら、未来の傍観者ではなく、未来の創造者となることが全ての参加者に期待されます。
Border Sessions is an international Tech Culture Festival in The Hague (the third largest city in The Netherlands), that started in 2012. Over the years it’s recognized by many as one of the most interesting tech culture experiment sites in Europe. It gathers a crowd of activists, thinkers, engineers and designers who work on innovations while provoking the world's premises. The festival offers various interactions like future pitches, summits, labs, and exhibitions, searching for concrete social implementation that goes beyond just ideas. It’s the starting point for actions.
We present the first edition of Border Sessions outside The Netherlands. A two-day event organized around Summit & Future Pitch. At the end of the event, various Labs will be launched. It is an event that all participants are expected to become future creators, not future bystanders, while participating in various programs that broaden the interests of participants.

技術は単に与えられたものではありません。それは過去と現在における人類の営みの決断の結果です。人類と技術の歴史は密接に関連しています。私たちが日々使っている道具や建造物からそれらの意味を考察しない限り自分たちの存在や性格を正しく理解することは不可能でしょう。何世紀にもわたって、生活インフラとして利用されてきた技術の蓄積が、現代のデザインやアプリケーションがもたらす様々な”結果”を信じられないほどに予測したり、理解することを困難にさせているのはいうまでもなく。だからこそ、私達はそれらのツールや設計を改めて研究し、哲学し、新たなアプローチで実験を繰り返すそんな姿勢をこのボーダーセッションで培っていければと考えています。
Technology is not just a given. It is the result of decisions made by mankind in the past and present. The history of humanity and technology is closely related. Unless we consider their meaning from the tools and buildings we use every day, it will be impossible to understand their existence and personality correctly. Accumulation of technology that has been used as a living infrastructure for centuries makes it difficult to predict and understand the various “results” of modern design and applications. Needless to say. That is why we would like to cultivate such a posture to repeat research, philosophy, and experiment with new approaches in these border sessions.
